Valley Moms Gift Guide
The best gifts don’t have to come in two-day shipping boxes — they’re right here in the Valley. From handmade jewelry and cozy boutiques to family-run shops that know you by name, our local businesses make gift-giving more meaningful (and way more fun).
It’s no secret that most of what we see on our screens today is ads. In fact, some studies say we see up to 10,000 ads a day. Phew.
And it only gets worse around the holidays. Everyone’s running a promo, offering a discount, or launching a new product. We have MULTIPLE DAYS dedicated to online shopping deals.
What happened to the magic of the mall? Hearing the ding of a bell when you open the door at your local boutique? Actually feeling and seeing a toy before you wrap it? I miss those days, and I’ve 100% fallen into the Amazon trap, the social media ad slippery slope, and every can’t-miss deal on the market.
But not this year. This year, I:
Refuse to turn Valley Moms into yet another account begging for your attention to buy more online junk that you don’t need or want.
Want to put a huge emphasis on shopping local.
Aside from a few specialty items (like a Shutterfly calendar for my mother-in-law), I’m taking out cash, picking a weekend, and actually going shopping around town — and I really hope you’ll join me.
Let’s recapture some of the Christmas shopping magic, get off of our phones, stop falling prey to every holiday deal, buy quality items, support our town, and maybe enjoy this season a little more than last year!
This guide rounds up some of our favorite places to shop local in Wenatchee, Cashmere, Leavenworth, and Chelan. I’m not telling you what to buy — just where to go shopping. Whether you’re hunting for the perfect hostess gift, something special for your spouse, or a little “just because” treat, you’ll find inspiration close to home — and support the small businesses that make our community shine.

Supporting local businesses
Supporting local doesn’t just mean shopping at boutiques and markets — it’s about keeping your holiday spending right here in the Valley, where it makes a real difference.
And don’t forget — shopping local also means showing up for the people who work at our community staples. When you’re at places like JCPenney, Target, or Costco, you’re still supporting local workers and families. Go through the regular checkout line, smile at the cashier, and thank them for being there during the busiest time of year.
Make a day of it
Grab a latte from a local stand, bring a friend, take the scenic route through downtown, and maybe end your trip with lunch somewhere festive. Shopping small isn’t just about what you buy — it’s about slowing down, connecting, and remembering that every dollar spent locally helps our Valley families, employees, and dreamers do what they love.
