Tips for a Smooth Storytime Visit

Taking your little ones to storytime can be such a sweet outing, but a little prep can go a long way in making it enjoyable for everyone (including you!).

• Arrive a few minutes early so your kids can warm up to the space, find a cozy spot, and get the wiggles out before things begin.

• Pack a water bottle and a quiet snack just in case, but save anything crunchy or messy for after.

• It’s okay if your child moves around, talks, or loses focus — storytime is designed for wiggly bodies and short attention spans.

• Join in! Sing the songs, do the hand motions, and show your kids it’s fun to participate.

• If things go off the rails, don’t stress. Sometimes, leaving early is the win, and you can always try again next week.

The goal isn’t a picture-perfect experience — it’s to make reading and community feel fun and welcoming. So take a deep breath, lower your expectations, and let the stories do their thing.
