Does your fur baby crave the open trails? Here’s where you should go!

In the Wenatchee Valley, we’re lucky to have a wide range of trails where dogs are welcome off leash, as long as they’re under solid voice control. Here are 25 great picks for pups and their people, whether you’re chasing views or just stretching your legs.

Wenatchee

1. Horse Lake Reserve – Wenatchee
Rolling hills, wildflowers, and wide-open space to roam. Great views of the valley.

2. Sage Hills Trails – Wenatchee
Sweeping sagebrush terrain with lots of room to run. Gorgeous in spring!

3. Jacobson Preserve – Wenatchee
Quick access from town, gentle elevation, and shady pine sections. Perfect for toddlers & terriers.

4. Castle Rock Trail – Wenatchee
Short but steep with rewarding views. Older kids and high-energy dogs will love the climb.

5. Saddle Rock Trail – Wenatchee
Iconic local trail. Expect a solid uphill workout — bring water for both you and your pup!

Leavenworth & Lake Wenatchee Area

6. Freund Canyon Loop – Leavenworth
Fun mix of forest and open slope. Slightly longer, but totally doable with older kids.

7. Ski Hill Trails – Leavenworth
Popular but spacious. Great trail network to explore and loop.

8. Penstock Trail – Tumwater Canyon
Flat riverside trail, shady, and beautiful. Good for littles and leashed pups too.

9. Nason Ridge Trail – Lake Wenatchee
More remote, but peaceful and rewarding. Gorgeous views in summer/fall.

10. Hidden Lake Trail – Lake Wenatchee
A gem! Small alpine lake, forested path, and dog-friendly terrain.

Cashmere, Entiat & Mission Ridge Area

11. Red Hill Trail – Cashmere
Moderate trail with elevation and views. Watch for ticks in tall grass.

12. Devils Gulch Trail – Mission Creek
Longer adventure — great for trail runners and dogs with energy to burn.

13. Mission Ridge Meadow Trails – Mission Ridge
Mellow, forested, and full of meadow sniffing opportunities.

14. Entiat River Trail – Entiat
Riverside, long but level. Bring towels for wet dogs!

15. Tyee Ridge Trail – Entiat
More remote — make sure you’re well-prepped. Peaceful and rugged.

Quincy & Beyond

16. Ancient Lakes Trail – Quincy
Desert beauty, waterfalls, and wide trail. Best in spring and fall.

17. Dusty Lake Trail – Quincy
Rocky and unique landscape. Keep an eye on your pup near cliffs.

18. Babcock Bench Trail – Columbia River
Views galore! Great for early spring or late fall when it’s not too hot.

19. Frenchman Coulee Trail – Vantage
Jaw-dropping basalt cliffs, short trails. Go early to beat heat.

20. Echo Basin Trail – Columbia River
Quieter alternative with lush canyon scenery.

Stevens Pass & Higher Elevation Trails

21. Icicle Gorge Loop – Leavenworth
Gentle, shaded loop along a roaring creek. Very kid- and dog-friendly.

22. Fourth of July Creek Trail – Icicle Ridge
More challenging — older kids and mountain-loving pups will thrive.

23. Chiwaukum Creek Trail – Stevens Pass
Lush forest and a mellow river trail — magical in early summer.

24. Hatchery Creek Trail – Near Lake Wenatchee
Longer and less trafficked. Bring good shoes and snacks.

25. Alpine Lookout Trail – Near Stevens Pass
Panoramic views on a clear day. A full adventure!

Trail Tips for Dog Moms

  • Voice Control = Safety: Especially with cliffs, bikers, or other hikers nearby

  • Leave No Trace: Pack out poop bags, even if they’re “biodegradable”

  • Water & Shade: Some of these are dry — bring extra for your dog

  • Watch for Burrs, Ticks, and Hot Paws: Especially in sagebrush zones
