Babies Class — 0 to 8 months
Fall classes start September 9th
Every child’s music development benefits from early exposure to music and movement. Because the early months are so important, Music Together® offers two options for babies. Infants may attend a mixed-age class, whether registered individually or attending for free with an older sibling. They may also be registered for the special “Babies Class” offered as a one-semester introduction to Music Together®. The music activities and materials are specially designed for parents who want to learn as much as possible about music development in infants, and meet other parents of newborns, and learn fascinating music activities you can recreate at home with your baby using concepts such as "purposeful touch," "sound layering," and "dancing for baby.
Generations Class — 0 to 5 years
Fall classes start September 11th
In Music Together® Generations classes, teachers and families foster meaningful music relationships as "Grandfriends" join the music-making circle. Music is an essential part of being human. Support for music learning in early childhood can yield both lifelong skills and enjoyment in music experiences. While Music Together’s core program serves families with children ages 0-5, it’s a natural extension of that core mission to include intergenerational class experiences. Classes are typically held in residential facilities, such as independent living, assisted living, or nursing homes, or in day programs, such as senior centers. These special kinds of Music Together classes have been beloved now for years as more and more communities recognize the unique power of making music together across generations.
Mixed Ages — 0 to 5 years
Fall classes start September 8th
This is the essential Music Together® class, one that a child can attend from birth through kindergarten—and through all nine song collections. This basic class follows the recommendations of child development researchers, grouping children of various ages in one class. This approach fosters natural, family-style learning, where younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can attend class together. Each child participates at his or her own developmental level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, observing, or exploring musical instruments.
We welcome the whole family to join in this important family music experience. Any caregiver—parents, grandparents, or nanny—can bring the child(ren) to class.
Rhythm Kids® Level 1 — 4 to 5 years (Alligator Collection) and Level 2 — 5 to 8 years
Fall classes start September 15
The Alligator Collection includes drumming patterns from Guinea, West Africa. These patterns often accompany a song and dance class, "Kakilambe," a mask-dance song performed annually by the Baga people of Guinea to celebrate life and the growth of crops. We'll clap, stomp, and drum along to the lively beat of the Ghanaian singing game, "Tue Tue," do some zydeco line dancing in "Alligator Zydeco," and tweedle deet our way through our unique version of the classic American folk song, "The Green Grass Grows All Around," a new addition to the Alligator collection for 2025. All 18 selections in the collection have been chosen and arranged specifically to support your child's music development.
